Swindon’s most affordable streets for 2024 revealed

Property prices have grown by 3.4 per cent in the last year, with the average house price in Swindon rising by £8,900, according to figures from the Office for National Statistics. 

This is in line with the national average of a 3.4 per cent increase in the UK over the past year.

The average Swindon house price in October 2024 was £272,779, up from an average of £251,746 earlier in the year.

The two cheapest properties sold last year were located on Victoria Road, according to HM Land Registry price-paid data for the year. One sold for £500 while the other sold for £1,000.

This was followed by Southampton Street, Rainscombe Road, Coate, Buryhill Farm, Braydon and Cambria Bridge Road, where properties sold for between £1,500 and £9,000.

The next cheapest property sold for £19,500 on Goddard Avenue, Old Town.

Meanwhile, the properties that sold for between £60,000 and £75,000 were located on Burnet Close, Discovery House, Elver Close, Westcott Place, Chartwell Road, Redhouse, Redcross Place, Bates Way, Wordsworth Drive, Helmsdale, Chain Court, Allen Close, Clapham Close, Moredon and Drove Road.

There were 13 properties in Swindon that sold for between £76,000 and £90,000 last year and these were located on Tydeman Street, Gorse Hill, Fullers Avenue, Cricklade, Oakford Walk, Park North, Farnsby Street, Cricklade Street, Bramble Court, Cricklade, Manchester Road, Allen Close, Cambria Bridge Street, Holm Oak Court, Deneb Drive, Thames Avenue and Deacon Street. 

In 2024, the 18 properties that sold for between £90,000 and £100,000 were found in Corporation Street, Clarence Street, Seacole Street, The Heights, Old Town, Harding Street, Speedwell Close, Carman Close, The Street, Moredon, Carver Close, Stratton, Speedwell Close, The Birches, Kimmeridge Close, Nythe, Marlborough Road, Old School Court, The Mews and Wellington Street.

Swindon saw 568 properties sell for between £100,000 and £200,000 last year.

Fleming Way, Albion Street, Elborough Road, Burbage Road, Devizes Road, Malory Crescent, Tadpole Garden Village, and Halton Crescent, Wroughton, were towards the lower end for house prices.

Properties sold in Lyndhurst Crescent, Stonybeck Close and The Chesters, Westlea, Kennet Road, Wroughton, Knowlands, Highworth, Red Lion Lane, Cricklade, Wagtail Close, Swan Close and Basil Close were nearing the £200,000 mark.

There were 1,254 properties across Swindon that sold for £200,000 to £300,000 in 2024.
