Willowbrook View in Wichelstowe, Swindon, recently welcomed a group of rabbits and guinea pigs for a day of cuddles and calm, thanks to a visit from Chloe’s Mobile Farm.
The session gave residents the chance to stroke, feed, and interact with the animals in a relaxed and supportive environment.
Jane Edwards, general manager at Willowbrook View, said: “Bringing these adorable creatures to Willowbrook View was a wonderful experience for everyone involved.
“For us, it’s important that even in care residents are able to keep their love and connection with animals alive.
“Watching their faces light up really reminds you that spending time with animals is more than just entertainment.
“It can be enriching, meaningful, and hopefully will create some lasting memories for everyone here.”
Animal-assisted therapy has been shown to reduce blood pressure, decrease loneliness, and even help manage depression and anxiety.
According to the Alzheimer’s Society: “if a person with dementia is having trouble communicating with others or having conversations, looking after a pet may help them to stay engaged and involved”.
Willowbrook View is part of the Connaught Care Collection, an award-winning provider of luxury care homes.
The home is located in the heart of the Wichelstowe development.
